UAE Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS)
Companies aiming to market electrical and electronic products within the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are mandated to obtain a Certificate of Conformity under the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) program for RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances).
This obligation stems from the Federal Law No. 10/2017, under which the UAE government enforces a compulsory supervision over electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) to manage the inclusion of hazardous materials.
This technical regulation, overseen and administered by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), operates within the framework of the ECAS.
The UAE RoHS Regulation, effective since January 1, 2018, mirrors the European Union's RoHS Directive in its mission to curb the utilization of detrimental materials in EEE.
